 Throughout the decades since trench coats were worn in battle, they remained a form of armor, shielding men from the elements, from urban grime and from frivolity. But this Spring 2009 season brings trenches that are lighter in weight than ever. Strip away the vestigial, military clutter - even the belt - so the coats can hang loose and carefree.
